What happens when you combine a long-exposure photograph of Jupiter and the Galilean moons with a 5.8 magnitude earthquake?
A beautiful image, that's what:
Photographer Andrew Dare was set up near Cuscu, Peru and took a 3-second exposure of Jupiter just as the earthquake struck, resulting in the photo above. Without an earthquake, the image would look like the image on the left:
I'd say earthquakes definitely improve the interestingness of astrophotography.
