Tracking Cicada Swarmageddon 2013

SwarmageddonThis summer, the septadecennial cicadas of Brood 2 will emerge from the ground from Georgia up to Connecticut after 17 years and beginning clamoring for mates.

The folks over at RadioLab & WNYC have put together a Cicada Tracker website, including the Mapping Swarmageddon tracker below. As people begin seeing and hearing cicadas, they can report their sighting which will thenshow up on the map.

RadioLab's Septadecennial Sing Along podcast episode also describes the various calls from the different species of cicada that will be emerging this year.
